Heir-Conditioned

By Lacey L.H. Vess
A Mommy she really wanted to be,
But not yet ready for kids was he…
So when asked if planning on kids were they?
“We’re not preventing or really trying,” he’d say.
Then one day, tired of the question, “when would they be?”
Came the response, “in due time will we!”
For in it’s own due time is the key
That gave this saying the truth it be,
That “What once was almost, now is no longer
And what once was no longer now once again will be!”
For Daniel and Mrs. Vess are we,
Here to announce that WE’RE HAVING A BABY!
Due to arrive in January, Two Thousand and Ten
is Our Sweet Little Baby,
Who'll be joining Our Happy Little Den!!

"QUACK-UP" ...and "3 Truths & a Tease"...

One night, while laying in bed, just as I was about to fall asleep this "definition" of a QUACK-UP popped into my head...Quiet Unnoticed Announcement Cleverly Kept-Until Proven. ...This quickly became an idea I thought of using to announce on our blog (about us having a baby)...a little Riddle (or whatever you wanna call it) followed shortly after the "QUACK-UP" thought...It goes like this:

How do you get 2 from 1 and 3 from 2 when 40 is the added sum of subtracting 1 from 1 to get 2 when 1 plus 1 is 3 then 1 is equal to 2...unless 1 is equal to 3, then 1 plus 1 is 4?

...that one blew my mind because I have NEVER liked math...and it really has nothing to do with math...well at least in someways anyway, but I had fun thinkin' it! lol...
~*~*~*~
Another Idea I had was to do "3 Truths and a Tease:"
a) We own a Ford b) We're getting a Puppy
c) We own a Chevy d) We're having a Baby

Our Exciting News...a bit of a Catch you up

Daniel came to visit me the first weekend in May this year (2009). On Saturday morning (May 2nd), I had just woke up from a good night's sleep...all night though, I dreamed that I was trying to hide from people so I could take a Pregnancy Test, throughout the dream the people I was hiding the test from kept changing. Finally I was able to get away and try a test, but before I could see the result, I woke up!
So, I decided that I would (just for fun) try a Test, I wondered if I was pregnant, but hadn't really thought about it because I figured that the reasons: 1) I wasn't sleeping well, 2)I was having weird dreams and a few other things was because Daniel was gone. (even though they are symptoms). Daniel didn't know I had one, because I bought it while he was in North Carolina, so after taking the test, I was SOOO excited when the Two Pink Lines showed up that I put it in a zip lock and went in to show Daniel. When I walked in the room, he rolled over and asked me what I was doing (he had just barely woke up), I giggled and said "check it out!!" and handed it to him... He kept blinking his eyes trying to see what it said and realized it was upside down so he turned it over and kept trying to open his eyes so he could read/see it better...then all of the sudden his eyes got BIG and he looked at me and with a BIG smile he rapped his arms around me! He was Happy, and I was glad...I wasn't sure what his reaction would be...but when he got back to Base (in North Carolina) he was sooo excited that he was telling the guys he worded with...
One night he text me and said, " ;-* i love you see you in dream land my wife and mother-to-be of our children hehehe :-D "
Here's a pic of me the day after we found out:
(I'll have future ones too just for fun to see the diff.)

Sunday, May 10th (Mother's Day), in Relief Society when they asked if anyone had any "good news moments," my hand shot up and I said, "I get to celebrate Mother's Day for real for the first time this year!!"
After Relief Society, Ms.Mini (Fly) called me over to her and when I got there she asked, "Are you telling us that you're pregnant?" to which I Joyfully replied, "Yep! Sure AM!! :-D"...She said she is very happy for us! ...Some of the other Sisters caught me after Church too (to name a few: Patti F., Barbara T., Tamille J. (also pregnant! 2 months ahead of me), Amy L., and a few other's who's name slip my mind~sorry). I was standing out in the hall talking to Lisa S. (telling her my news) when a couple sisters (Lisa included) congratulated me...the Missionaries were standing behind me and when I turned to ask them if we were still on for F.H.E on Friday-Elder Keller (from Las Vegas, NV) asked, (and I could tell he was kinda embarrassed to ask), "so...are you...expecting?"
When I told him that I am, he Smiled real big and have me a Hi-5, Elder Shock (from Sandy, UT) Smiled and said, "that is awesome!"
...It's sooo fun to see all the different reactions...Timille & I are excited to have a friend here that we can be pregnant at the same time with!!...and in a few months when I have a little tummy showin', we're gonna get a "Tummy Pic," I saw it on one of my friends' blogs and thought it was a cute/fun idea!!

We decided that we'd let our friends here know so that if "anything happened" I'd have support nearby. But we wanted to wait to tell everyone "Back home" until we can "Surprise" Visit them!-Hopefully no one will take offense, but if they do, that's their choice! Because it's Our Surprise anyway and being that this will be Our First Born Baby, We want the opportunity to "Show and Tell" on our own and be able to See the reactions ourselves! :-)
Plus, having already experienced having a miscarriage (not asking for sympathy-just explaining!), where no one really knew but us, we decided we'd see which way we felt better...and living so far from Home, we decided Home could be the "wait to tell" while we announced it here. This way if something happened we'd see what "way of announcing" was more worth it. We both really enjoy Announcing it and I can't wait til the 2nd Trimester so I can feel better (Crossing fingers!)

May 16th-Mom was out "Yardsaling" and found a really nice (practically brand-new) Baby Swing, Stroller and Car-seat Set...we got it for $200...it's currently "in storage" at our home in Utah...waiting for us to "Come back and Play!"...I'm excited about it because it's one of the designs that I like...it's got Brown (one of Our Wedding Colors) and polk a dots...it's also a Neutral Design so we'll be able to Re-use them!! :-) Here's a pic of them:May 17th- So I've definitely been feeling the "Morning Sickness," or at least the Nausea for awhile now, but this morning was the first time that I actually had to hug the Toilet-ewe!! It was a yucky morning, I felt bad because I ended up missing Church, so I turned on some Church Talks-I listened to Elder Bednar's CES Fireside from the beginning of the month (Awesome talk!!) then I listened to Sept. '08 Women's Conference (I missed it-(Honeymoon)). I spent most of the day in bed trying to sleep so I didn't feel so yucky, and by the afternoon-early evening I finally started feeling a bit better...hooray...but I keep telling/reminding myself that "it's all for a GOOD cause!"

Tues. May 26th, my friend Krista gave me a ride to my first Doctor's appointment where I met with Dr.Rossi at The Churchland OB/GYN...She is a wonderful Doctor and very nice too!! It was fun/nice to see Our Baby on the monitor!! Dr.Rossi printed out a copy for me and I took a pic of it with my Cell phone and text'ed it to Daniel (He's been in North Carolina since April 18th until July 10th!)-he did get to come visit the first weekend this month (tht's when I found out I was Pregnant!) ...He was sooo excited to see it!! We are both SUPER EXCITED!!!
The lady who took my blood was very nice and did a good job-Her and Krista did a wonderful job at "distracting me" so that I wouldn't feel so Faint...I hardly even felt it when she did it! But I'm still glad that we only have to do that a couple more times! lol...I HATE Needles and the thought/sight of Blood...ewe!! lol I'm hoping to "grow out of it" like my mom did!
This is Our Little Monkey Bean:
(taken at 8 weeks!)
Our Baby is Due January 6th, 2010!
Maybe it'll come 3 days early so we can have Our Baby on Maggie's birthday!! That'd be cool!! Especially if it's a Girl (Hope so!!! But would love a baby Boy too, just the same!) Since The First Grandkid was a Boy -Ashton, the worlds cutest Bubby!-and he was born on Cubby's birthday, that'd be cool to have a baby Girl (the second Grankid on my side of the family) on Maggie's b'day!!...We'll just have to "Wait and see" what this baby's got in mind ;-) ...heehee
WE ARE SOOOO EXCITED!!!! :-D

In Loving Memory of Mrs. Linda Bayles

I first got to know you when I was in your first grade class,
You taught us so much and shared your talents with us too...
Teaching us songs like, "Friends Are Different," and "This Land is Your Land,"
and your sweet smiles and nice warm hugs were the perfect examples of kindness!

I loved having you as my teacher so much,
that all through my second grade year, every time I saw you,
I'd run up, give you a great big hug and say,
"You're gonna be my third grade teacher!"
You'd smile your sweet smile and with a gentle giggle you'd say,
"We'll have to see about that..."

When third grade rolled around and I found out that I was in your class,
I was sooo excited that I couldn't wait to go
because you always had a way of making learning fun!

I got to have your husband, Mr. Lloyd Bayles, as my fourth grade teacher,
and I must say, you guys are a perfect match!
Growing up, the more I got to know you and Mr. Bayles,
the more I grew to love you guys!
I always loved to see you
because you always had such a big friendly smile
and a nice gentle hug...
Every time I saw a Precious Moments' nicnac or picture
I always thought of you and said,
"Mrs. Bayles would love that!!"

Thank you Mrs. Bayles for your love, friendship and kindness
and for all that you've taught me through the years...
You are an amazing woman and the sweetest friend,
I hope that when I grow up I can be as sweet and special as you are...
You'll always be remembered for all the Precious Moments
that you've shared with us all!
We love you dearly and you'll always be in our hearts!

*Our dear friend, Mrs. Linda Bayles returned home to our Heavenly Father on Sunday evening, May 10th, 2009 where she was reunited with her son Brian and other loved ones who went on before her. She lived a beautiful life and is a friend to Many, She was a wonderful teacher and a good example to those around her. Now she can rest in peace, free from pain and the troubles of this world, for she has moved on to the next life where she will be blessed with peace and comfort forever.

I love the 26th & 27th verses in the book of Enos
(In the Book of Mormon) that say,

"And I saw that I must soon go down to my grave, having been wrought upon by the power of God that I must preach and Prophesy unto this people, and declare the word according to the truth which is in Christ. And I have declared it in all my days, and have rejoiced in it above that of the world.
And I soon go to the place of my rest, which is with my Redeemer; for I know that in him I shall rest. And I rejoice in the day when my mortal shall put on immortality, and shall stand before him; then shall I see his face with pleasure, and he will say until me: Come unto me, ye blessed, there is a place prepared for you in the mansions of my Father. Amen."

I know that Linda is Happy where she is and that she is doing The Lords work in Heaven. She is loved and will always have a special place in each of our hearts!

Easter Sunday 2009

First off I apologize for being so slow to post this, I really have no excuse other than that I just didn't do it...
Anyway, It was a beautiful day at Church, the talks in Sacrament were all nice and the Relief Society lesson was good too! (I taught the lesson for the 12-13 yr old's...Daniel said it was a good one).

After Church we went over to Stacie's for Easter lunch and games... Easter is one of my most favorite Holiday's because not only is it a day spent with our loved ones, eating & fun games, it is very special because of the true meaning of Easter...
"Jeremy's Egg" is one of my favorite stories to read at Easter time, as it so plainly shows the true meaning of Easter. If you haven't ever heard of it, I highly recommend that you check it out...It is an Awesome story! One that I know you will love!

Mother's Day, My Mom's Birthday!! 05-10-09

I have a wonderful Mother,
I wouldn't want any other!
For she is the best
She could use a Rest
from work, chores and being indoors!
My Mother, My Hero, My Friend
One who brought me into this world
Then raising me in the Gospel with truth and righteousness I learned,
Her examples and love within me are burned
Etched in my heart and mind forever
Remembering all she's done for me and our family

Doing the best that she could
Enduring to the end
Always there for us no matter what
Reminding us of who we are and what we stand for
Echoing her love for us in all that she does
Sharing with us her many talents
Teaching us how to love and showing us how to care

I hope and pray that I can be the kind of Mother she's been for me...

Learning and growing with her examples and lessons in mind,
Often I sit back and enjoy the sweet memories we share...
Valuable insight and a good look at the future,
Evidence of a good life!

Young and beautiful, she became my fathers' wife
On June 25th, 1983, Sealed as a Family Forever on August 8th, 1989
Unaware of the Hero she'd grow to be, for that is exactly what she is to me!

...Mother Dearest I Love You!

Happy Mother's Day and Happy Birthday

A Day at The Virginia Zoo -May 1st, 2009

Krista invited me to go with her and the kids to the Zoo...
here we watched the Elephant get a shower...
Look at the pretty Butterflies...
Jr. Photographer...
This little Turtle was pretty silly...it kept swimming in front of the big turtle and waving it's arms like CrAzY in it's face!...
I just couldn't help taking pics and laughin' when we got to the Prairie Dog exhibit... lol, I can't say that I ever thought I'd see it...but I now can say I Have Seen It!!...AND they even had Stuffed Animal Prairie Dogs!! LOL...I was tempted to get one...in fact, maybe one of these times I will get one just for kicks! All I had to do in B'town to see a Prairie Dog was look out in the back field!! Oh, Well...I sure got a kick out of it anyway. ...and to tell ya the truth, I've actually always thought they are cute little critters...even though they are a hassle when Farming is concerned! ;-)
here's a pic that Krista got of Bella and I in the bubble at the Prairie Dog exhibit......It was a fun day...thanks Krista and kids! :-)
...AND...
Daniel got to come visit...he got here around 10:00 pm!!
(there will be a separate post for the rest of the weekend)

Bubby's April Adventures...

Bubby calls me "Ace"...He is sooo cute, he'll get on the phone and say, "hi" or "Heawo," and "I wbu"...and he kisses the phone when I'm talkin' to him...he has the cutest laugh too!!!
where's Bubby? ...helpin' do laundry of course!...
Easter
ok, so I got these pics of Bubby from Sheila ...and I just had to post them...he is SOOOO cute!!...

April 22nd-Hanging out with Krista & Kids

Krista picked me up around noon and took me to her house where her son Josh was making Doughnuts for a class project. We hungout at her house until the other kids got out of school then we picked them up and went to the Air and Space Museum...
...When we first started looking around, we found some people from the Air Force that had a plane set up outside with steps leading up to the cockpit so that people could see what it looked like. Then when we got inside, they had people that would let you try on their uniforms & backpacks and see the guns they use... Then we found a Bed of Nails...you laid down on a flat bed and when someone pushed the button a bed of nails would lift you up...it didn't hurt at all!!...actually it reminded me of the needle things that you can play with and make imprints of your hands etc...
Next we found some Firefighter Uniforms and tried them on...Here they found a Coin flipper thing-you push a button and it flips the coin inside a little bubble thing like in the game Trouble, and they have little beads for you to keep track of how many times it lands on Heads or tails...
...here's another fun thing we found there-notice the floor makes it look like you're actually walking over the City Street...It was a FUN day!! ~Thank you Krista & Kids for an enjoyable day!!

Friday, April 24, 2009

Around 10:00 in the morning on April 18th, I walked Daniel out to the car to say "goodbye" and send him off to North Carolina for Temporary Duty and Field Medic Training...He will be there until Mid-July, however, he is going to try to come visit on a weekend or two if he can.
...There goes my Hubby...
After Daniel left, I went back to the apartment to study Lesson 31 in the Joseph Smith-Teaching of The Prophets Manuel for Relief Society (I was asked to sub-teach for Sunday the 19th).
After studying for awhile, I called Stacie and invited her over. When she got here we decided to walk over to the Ferry and take it across the River over to Norfolk so we could go walk around the Mall for awhile. Before heading back, we got a couple of Smoothies-and they were Gooood!!
It was a beautiful day and we had fun visiting while we walked around. It was Sooooo nice to get out of the Apartment for awhile!!!

That evening around 6:00 pm, my friends Racheal and Brandon picked me up and took me to Virginia Beach to go Mini Golfing. We played 18 holes and Rachael came in 1st with 45 points, Brandon got 57...and I came in last...lol, I don't remember what I got, but it was "Up there!"
When I golf I usually manage to get the Highest score, and when I play games that you're supposed to get the Highest score, I claim it as 'playing golf,' since I usually get the least amount of points!! LOL...my Game Point System must be wired backwards!!
Here are a few pics that I got with my Cell ph-(I forgot my camera):
"...Hey.. You... Guy..."
When we were done Golfing, they took me to a movie called "Dragonball." I never really saw the TV Series, but the Movie was good.
~Thank you Stacie, Rachael & Brandon for a Fun Filled Day!!
